Welcome to the Railway Hotel Murchison East
Located 25mins south-west of Shepperton.
The Railway Hotel, known locally as The East, was built in 1880 and was known as ‘Samuel Parkin’s Railway Terminus Hotel’ it was rated as one of the most comfortable hotels in the Goulburn Valley. The publican, according to the account in the Argus, was prepared to accommodate ‘all classes of the travelling public’. The hotel also offered good stabling, a ‘good safe paddock and plenty of water’.
Whilst we are now in the 21st Century the need of a ‘good stabling’ is quite slim, we do however want to continue the tradition of being rated as one of the most comfortable hotels in the GV. We do this by acknowledging and respecting all our patrons and guests, a choice of 8 cold beers on tap and great food is imperative, regular live music and entertainment is also a key to bring the public together at The East!
Now owned and operated by publicans, Vipin Jaswal & Rupinder Sidhu with their sons Ekam and Ehit, The East is a must-visit hotel when in the GV.
